consistency

In order be true to the blog name and the actual manner in which my brain functions- random streams of unrelated thoughts- I will attempt to blog in kind.

Thought 1
It is curious how work ethic/self-discipline/attitude flow in waves. There will be weeks of focused diligent work with a joyful heart and then...well, not-so-much. I wish I were only speaking in terms of the girls.

Unrelated Thought 2
We studied the 3 appeals of rhetorical persuasion this week: ethos, pathos and logos. After reading through various short paragraphs and essays, we determined the appeal used in each. It was pretty interesting.

Pretty Good

There once was a pretty good student,

Who sat in a pretty good class;
Who was taught by a pretty good teacher,
Who always let pretty good pass-

He wasn’t terrific at reading,
He wasn’t a whizbang at math;
But for him education was leading,
Straight down a pretty good path.

He didn’t find school too exciting,
But he wanted to do pretty well;

and no one had taught him to spell.

Pretty good might not be good enough.

Was part of a pretty good state,
Which had pretty good aspirations,
And prayed for a pretty good fate.

There once was a pretty good nation,
Pretty proud of the greatness it had,
Which learned much too late, it you want to be great,
Pretty good is, in fact, pretty bad.
