The Sanitarium is Now Closed or How I Found that I Crave Routine

It has been a long 7 days. Everyone has had the flu in various intensities. Fevers and coughs and fatigue, Oh my!

But I will not dwell on illness, as there was a greater obstacle than the flu to overcome: FLR -Flu Lethargy Residue (everything gets an acronym these days). We were, however, able to function at about  80% today.  It felt liberating to be back the surety of the daily routine and I realized what a creature of habit I have become. I find security in the commonplace of our daily lives.

I remember visiting my grandparents when I was pre-teen age and watching them go through their daily morning ritual. It seemed comforting to have the certainty of what to expect. My grandmother would fix breakfast (always bacon/country ham, eggs fried in grease of said bacon/country ham, mmm... toast and coffee) while my grandfather tended to the few animals they had. He would come back in and they would eat together, in their customary chairs. They would usually remain silent, unless something particularly gossip-worthy had happened at their Methodist church. This way of functioning seemed so very grown-up to me.
<--not my grandparents, but you get the idea

Tomorrow is return to quotidian life: day 2. It will be a good day, particularly with a little help from Starbucks.
