The Yearly Great Demotivator

Achievement tests are over, the scores are back and the results were as I had hoped/expected. Whew. Now, the problem:  achievement tests are over and the results are back.  It happens to me every year. The test results roll in and despite my generally undying motivation to soldier forward in academics... eh... It just feels as though the year is over and it drives me to distraction. We must continue, we must, but... maybe we don't need to do science today, or history tomorrow or math the next day. Testing is over after all.  I have tried to combat this phenomenon for the past 3 or 4 years by moving the testing date closer to the actual closing of school. Once again, just as every year, the results came in, there were 4 weeks of school left to accomplish, and I felt done.

We are continuing to get some good work in these last 2 weeks; we are functioning at 71.3-75.4% (a very rough estimate, mind you). That's not too bad, right? (oh, by the way, this is where I am looking for justification for slacking off, and this is where you cyber-support my slackardlyness and say- Yeah, 71.3-75.4% is totally great; you are only a 28.7-24.6% lazy slug)
So, tomorrow I will be up bright and early as usual giving these last few days my full 71.3-75.4%!

<---lazy slug of which I am merely 28.7-24.6%
